Birth Preparation
Pre-birth acupuncture is a series of treatments traditionally offered from around 36 weeks of pregnancy to help prepare the body for labour and birth by:
- Supporting the body's natural preparation for labour and birth
- Promoting relaxation and reduce stress and anxiety
- Encouraging optimal positioning of the baby
- Helping relieve common late-pregnancy discomforts such as back pain, pelvic pain, heartburn, and poor sleep
- Supporting physical and emotional wellbeing during the final weeks of pregnancy
- Helping women feel more prepared and confident as they approach labour and birth
These treatments can be so beneficial and focus on promoting relaxation, supporting wellbeing, and helping you feel physically and emotionally ready for the arrival of your baby.
Many women find that regular treatments in the final weeks of pregnancy help them feel calmer, more comfortable, and better prepared for labour and birth.
Induction
Treatment is often started around one week after your estimated due date, or 2–3 days before a planned medical induction, depending on your individual circumstances and in discussion with your maternity care team.
If you would like to learn more about acupuncture for labour induction, please get in touch. I would be happy to discuss your individual needs and answer any questions.
